Thủ Tướng THÁI LAN mời Phật tử trên thế giới tham dự lễ kỷ niệm Phật đản (Visakabucha )
Bangkok, 17/4 - Thủ tướng Thaksin Shinawatra hôm qua đã gởi thư mời đến Phật Tử trên toàn thế giới đến Thái Lan vào tháng tới để tham dự ngày Visakabucha. – một ngày quan trọng nhất trong Phật lịch.
Mặc dù chính phủ đã long trọng tổ chức lễ Visakabucha, còn gọi là lễ Tam Hợp, đánh dấu ba sự kiện, ngày Ðức Phật đản sinh, giác ngộ và nhập Niết Bàn, năm nay ngày lễ đặc biệt quan trọng này được tổ chức tại Thái Ian với sự tham dự của Phật giáo trên toàn thế giới.
Ông Thaksin nói: “Trong năm ít nhất 1 lần, Tín đồ Phật giáo nên gặp gỡ nhau để lắng nghe giáo pháp, tham gia vào hoạt động tôn giáo, và giải tỏa mọi vướng mắc trong tâm thức để tìm thấy được sự an lạc.
Năm nay chính phủ sẽ mời những cựu chính khách và nhân sĩ Phật Giáo nổi tiếng Chamlong Srimuang đến dự lễ vào ngày 22/5, thủ tướng còn nói với sự kiện này có thể tạo nên sự hoà hợp giữa cộng đồng Phật giáo trên toàn cầu.
Sự kiện này được mô tả như là một cơ hội cho Phật Tử các nước có thể đển tham gia vào hoạt động tôn giáo và thanh lọc tâm linh của mình, ông còn nói rằng lễ kỷ niệm năm nay có thể là những bước phối hợp cơ bản cho Thailan cùng Phật tử các nước láng giềng, tiếp theo đó Thailan hy vọng sẽ mở rộng đến các tín đồ Phật giáo từ khắp nơi trên thế giớI . M invites world's Buddhists to join Thai Visakabucha celebrations
BANGKOK, Apr 17 (TNA) - Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra yesterday issued an invitation to Buddhists across the world to come to Thailand next month to mark Visakabucha Day - the most important day in the Buddhist calendar.
Although the government has long stressed the importance of Visakabucha Day, which marks the Buddha's birth, enlightenment and death, this year is particularly important as Thailand is hosting the global celebrations for the event.
Mr. Thaksin said that at least once a year, Buddhists should get together to listen to sermons, engage in religious activities and ease any problems in their hearts and minds.
This year the government has invited veteran politician and renowned Buddhist Chamlong Srimuang to oversee the Visakabucha Day celebrations on 22 May, which the prime minister said would be aimed at creating unity among the global Buddhist community.
Describing the event as one to which Buddhists from across the world would be able to come to engage in religious activities and lighten their hearts, he said that this year the celebrations would be primarily geared to Thais and Buddhists from neighbouring countries, but that in subsequent years Thailand hopes to expand the focus to fully include Buddhists from across the world. Hơn 100 tượng Phật nằm được trưng bày tại đây. Bạn có thể tìm thấy tượng lớn nhất thế giới từ Vạn An Sơn Tự, Bắc Kinh, nhỏ nhất từ Ðộng Long Môn, Hà Nam, xưa nhất vào đời Hán, hơn 2000 năm trước.
Cuộc triển lãm cũng sẽ trình diễn cách thức đúc một pho tượng như thế nào . Một hướng dẫn viên nói “ Trước tiên phải làm một nộm tượng bằng gỗ , sau đó nấu đồng chảy ra và đồ vào nộm, cuối cùng sơn phết, tô, mạ. Nghệ thuật đúc tượng Phật khởi đầu khoảng hơn 2000 năm trước và thời điểm cực thịnh của nó cách nay khoảng 1700 năm vào đời Tam Quốc và đời Tấn.
Thường thường, một pho tượng cao hai mét mất thời gian 12 năm để hoàn tất với công sức của 100 tay thợ. Ða số các pho tượng đúc nằm theo kiểu kiết tường (nghiêng bên tay mặt).
Nhân viên của Ngọa Phật Tự Bắc Kinh đã trải qua năm năm sưu tầm thu thập vật liệu cho cuộc triển lãm này.

Now good news for Buddhists and those who want to know more about Buddhist art. Pictures of different sleeping Buddha statues from around the country are currently on display in the Wofo Temple - the Temple of the Sleeping Buddha - in Beijing, along with valuable documents, which opened on Wednesday.
Images of more than 100 sleeping Buddhas are on display here. You can find the world's largest sleeping Buddha statue - from Beijing's Wan'anshan Temple, the smallest - from Henan's Longmen Grottos, as well as the oldest - dating back to the Han Dynasty more than 2,000 years ago.
The exhibition also shows the process of how to make the statues.
A tour guide said: "First, make a wooden mold of the statue. Second, melt the copper, and pour the liquid copper into the wooden mold. Finally add the color and gild it."
The making of Buddha statues dates back more than two thousand years, and experienced its prime about 1,700 years ago in the Three Kingdoms period and the Jin Dynasty.
Usually, a two-meter-high statue took nearly one hundred craftsmen about 12 years to complete. Most of the statues were modeled lying on their right arms.
The staff of the Beijing Wofu Temple spent five years collecting the materials for the current exhibition.

Hội học sinh sẽ mở một buổi họp vào vài ngày tới để soạn thảo chương trình đón mừng ngày vị lãnh đạo Phật Giáo Tây Tạng lưu vong viếng thăm.
Trong số những người diễn thuyết sẽ có một tu nữ Phật giáo, thân mẫu của một quân nhân tử trận, một linh mục, và một đồng sáng lập viên hội Peace Weavers. Chương trình sẽ kéo dài từ 1- 4 giờ chiều và tất cả đều nói về một đề tài, xây dựng hòa bình.

New Brunswick, NJ (USA) -- It seems fitting that The Rutgers Religion Students Association will begin prepping for the Dalai Lama's visit to the University with an event devoted to peace. The association will hold the first major event in anticipation of the religious leader's Sept. 25 visit with its Day of Peace on Saturday at Brower Commons on the College Avenue campusParticipants of any or no religious affiliation are welcome to attend the event. The association is affiliated with the University's religion department but does not represent one particular organized religion.Speakers include a Buddhist nun, a military mother, a Christian minister and the co-founder of Peace Weavers. The event will run from 1-4 p.m. and feature speakers with one common goal - the promotion of peace. The idea for the day got going as a surrogate for the Dalai Lama's fall visit.Laura Chinchilla, RSA president, said she and the association created the Day of Peace to both discuss the Dalai Lama's ideals and create discussion about peace in a chaotic world."I wanted to get involved with the Dalai Lama programming and to raise with what he will be speaking about," Chinchilla said. "I also want to bring together various people from different backgrounds to discuss peace.
