Hội nghị Phật Giáo Quốc Tế tại Kandy

KANDY: Một Hội Nghị Phật Giáo Quốc Tế với sự tham dự của gần 500 đại biểu bao gồm chư Tăng Thống của nhiều bộ phái thuộc về Nguyên Thủy, Bắc Truyền và Phật Giáo Mật Tông đã được tổ chức tại Trung Tâm Phật Giáo Quốc Tế Pallekelle, Tích Lan vào ngày 10 và 11 tháng 8.
Hội thảo được tổ chức bởi Hội Ðồng Sri Dalada Maligawa Trust dưới sự hướng dẫn của các vị Tăng Trưởng Maha Nayaka Theras hệ phái Malwatte và Asgiriya Chapters.
Các đại biểu tham dự hội nghị khi đến Kandy vào ngày 9 tháng 8, đã được hướng dẫn đến Sri Dalada Maligawa trong một đoàn diễn hành và đã có dịp chứng kiến ngày cuối cùng của lễ hội Randoli Maha Perahera Kandy Esala Pageant, một lễ hội truyền thống của Tích Lan với vũ công trong y phục cổ điển sặc sỡ và hằng trăm thớt voi biểu diễn trong 10 đêm liền.
Các chương trình riêng biệt cũng đã được tổ chức để nghênh đón ác đoàn đại biểu tại Malwatte và Asgiriya Viharayas.

International Buddhist Conference in Kandy Katugastota group corr
KANDY: An International Buddhist Conference attended by nearly 500 delegates including Maha Nayaka Theras of various sects belonging to the Theravada, Mahayana and Thantrayana Buddhist traditions will be held at the Pallekelle International Buddhist Centre, Kandy on August 10 and 11.
The Sri Dalada Maligawa Trust has organised the conference under the guidance of the Maha Nayaka Theras of the Malwatte and Asgiriya Chapters.
When delegates attending the conference arrive in Kandy on August 9, they will be conducted to the Sri Dalada Maligawa in a procession and given an opportunity to witness the final Randoli Maha Perahera of the Kandy Esala Pageant.
Separate welcoming ceremonies will also be held for the delegates at the Malwatte and Asgiriya Viharayas too.
Hàng Châu, Aug 05, 2006. Một pho tượng đồng nặng 2.5 tấn của Ngài Huyền Trang (602- 664), một danh tăng Phật Giáo đời nhà Ðường đã được gửi từ Hàng Châu đến Ấn Ðộ xuyên qua Thượng Hải .
Pho tượng cao 3.5 mét được các nghệ nhân thuộc Công Ty Shendiao tỉnh Triết Giang thực hiện, một pháp ngôn viên nha tôn giáo tỉnh Triết Giang nói như trên.
Một nhóm chuyên gia từ Bộ Tôn Giáo Quốc Gia tại Bắc Kinh đã đến kiểm tra và phê chuẩn cho pho tượng được phép xuất khẩu.
Pho tượng sẽ được tôn trí trong đài kỷ niệm được đặt tên là Huyền Trang tại Tu Viện Nalanda ở Bihar, một trung tâm Phật Học cổ xưa.
Ðược liệt kê trong danh sách các sinh hoạt thuộc chương trình “ Năm Hữu Nghị Trung Ấn 2006”, đài kỷ niệm sẽ chính thức mở cửa vào tháng 11, 2006.
Ngài Huyền Trang là một môn đồ Khổng giáo trước khi cải sang Phật Giáo.
Gặp khó khăn bởi sự bất nhất của kinh điển, Ngài Huyền Trang đã rời Trung Hoa sang Ấn Ðộ để nghiên cứu tận gốc rễ. Ngài đã đi bộ xuyên qua Trung Á và đến Ấn Ðộ vào năm 633.
Sau thời gian nghiên cứu tại Tu Viện Nalanda nổi tiêng, Ngài hồi hương năm 645 và được chào đón như một anh hùng, mang về hàng trăm bộ kinh, kể cả một số kinh điển quan trọng trong Phật Giáo Ðại Thừa, và Ngài dùng hết thời gian còn lại trong đời để dịch thuật số kinh điển này.
Cuộc đời của Ngài Huyền Trang là nguồn cảm hứng của quyên tiểu thuyết “Tây Du Ký”, một tác phẩm văn học cổ điển của Trung Quốc được độc giả Tây Phương biết đến một cách chung chung qua nhân vật Hầu Vương Tôn Ngộ Không.
Bronze statue of Xuanzang shipped to India

HANGZHOU, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- A two-and-a-half-ton bronze statue of Xuanzang (602-664), an eminent Chinese Buddhist monk of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), was shipped from here to India via Shanghai on Saturday.
The 3.5-meter high statue was made by artisans of Shendiao Group Company in Zhejiang, said a spokesman from Zhejiang provincial religious affairs department.
A group of specialists from the State Administration of Religious Affairs in Beijing on Tuesday examined the statue and approved its export.
The statue will be placed in a memorial named after Xuanzang inside Nalanda Temple in Bihar, an ancient center of Buddhist learning.
Listed as one of the many activities for the Sino-Indian Year of Culture 2006, the memorial will be open to worshippers in November.
Xuanzang received a classical Confucian education before converting to Buddhism.
Troubled by discrepancies in the sacred texts, he left for India in 629 to study the religion at its source. He traveled by foot across Central Asia and reached India in 633.
After studying at the famous Nalanda monastery, he returned home in 645 to a hero's welcome, bringing back hundreds of Buddhist texts, including some of the most important Mahayana scriptures, and spent the rest of his life translating.
