DHARMSALA, India (AP) -18 tháng 02, 2006- Hàng ngàn người dân TâyTạng đã thiêu hủy các tấm da lông thú quý hiếm để đáp ứng lời kêu gọi của Ðức Ðạt Lai Lạt Ma trong việc từ bỏ sử dụng sản phẩm được chế tạo từ các giống thú nguy hiểm, văn phòng lưu vong Tây Tạng cho biết như trên hôm thứ Sáu.
Áo khoác ngoài viền lông thú như cọp, beo, hải cẩu và những giống thú hiếm khác gần đây trở nên phong trào thời trang ở Tây Tạng, nhắc nhở báo động sự nguy hại của các môi trường sinh thái hoang dã.
Theo một tổ chức bảo vệ động vật ẤnÐộ, chính phủ Trung Quốc đã ra lệnh cấm chỉ việc thiêu hủy này trong tuần trước, có 9 người bị bắt giam về tội phá rối công cộng và t ội cấu kết với Ðức Ðạt Lai Lạt Ma.
Một số lượng da, lông thú trị giá khoảng 75 triệu đã được thiêu hủy tại riêng miền đông Tây Tạng. Một nhà sư Tây Tạng, Lobsang Choephal, 35 tuổi,người đã lén thu hình ảnh vào phim video cuộc thiêu hủy lông thú ở Tây Tạng cho biết như trên.
Cuộn phim video đã được trình chiếu cho giới báo chí hôm thứ Sáu tại Dharmasala, tổng hành dinh của chính phủ lưu vong Tây Tạng, cho thấy hàng ngàn người dân Tây Tạng tụ tập tại TuViện Kirti thuộc miền đông Tây Tạng, ném những chiếc áo truyền thống Tây Tạng có trang sức lông thú vào trong đống lửa khổng lồ.
Căn cứ theo nhóm TibetInfoNet đặt cơ sở tại Ðức, các nhà tổ chức đã dự định đưa chiến dịch “chống sử dụng da lông thú” lên cao điểm với một cuộc thiêu hủy khổng lồ tại một tu viện vào ngày chủ nhật nhưng nhà cầm quyền đã ban hành lệnh cấm trước khi sự kiện được thực hiện.
Tổ chức Bảo Vệ Ðộng Vật Hoang Dã Ấn Ðộ, tổ chức đã phơi bày sự sử dụng lông da thú tại Tây Tạng cho biết có hai người Trung Hoa và 7 người Tây tạng bị bắt giam trong vụ thiêu đốt lông thú này. Sư Losbang Choephal nói “Những sự kiện đầy ý nghĩa này đã cho thế giới và nhất là Trung Quốc thấy rằng người dân Tây Tạng ở khắp mọi nơi đều tuân phục vị lãnh đạo tâm linh của h và sẵn sàng hy sinh nếu Ðức Ðạt Lai Lạt Ma cần đến họ”.

DHARMSALA, India (AP) - Thousands of Tibetans have burned rare animal pelts and skins in response to a call by the Dalai Lama, their exiled spiritual leader, to give up products made from endangered animals, Tibetan exiles said Friday.
The wearing of coats trimmed with fur from tigers, leopards, otters and other rare animals recently became stylish in Tibet, prompting warnings from environmental groups of the damage to wild populations.
The Chinese government reportedly banned the burnings last week and, according to an Indian animal rights group, arrested nine people for "public unrest and colluding with the Dalai Lama."
An estimated $75 million worth of animal skins have been burnt in the eastern Tibet alone, said Lobsang Choephal, a 35-year-old monk who smuggled video footage of the burning out of Tibet.
The footage, shown to the press Friday in Dharmsala, headquarters of the Tibetan government-in-exile, shows thousands of Tibetans gathered in the Kirti Monastery in eastern Tibet throwing traditional Tibetan dresses lined with animal fur into a giant bonfire.
Organizers planned to bring the anti-skins campaign to a climax with a mass burning at a monastery on Sunday, but authorities issued a ban shortly before it was to take place, according to TibetInfoNet, a group based in Germany.
The Dalai Lama, a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, fled Tibet amid an aborted uprising against Chinese rule in 1959 and is routinely accused by Beijing of being a religious charlatan and separatist bent on gaining independence for Tibet.
The Dalai Lama has said repeatedly that he does not want independence for Tibet - only more autonomy.
On Friday, 37 Nobel laureates released a joint letter released an open letter to China's President Hu Jintao urging China to grant autonomy to its western Tibetan regions, citing Hong Kong as an example of China's "one country, two systems" approach.
The Wildlife Trust of India, which helped expose the use of endangered skins in Tibet, said two Chinese and seven Tibetans were arrested for the burnings.
"These events are significant for us as they show the world and especially to China that Tibetans all over listen to the Dalai Lama and are willing to make sacrifices if he wishes so," said Choephal, the monk who smuggled out the videos of the burning.
