Kualalumpur -Mã Lai - Một nhóm trẻ em tuổi từ 8 đến 14 gần đây đã được nếm mùi nếp sống tu viện khi tham gia chương trình xuất gia gieo duyên được tổ chức bởi Trung Tâm Phật Giáo Tam Bảo
Buổi lễ được tổ chức tại Trung Tâm Phật Giáo Tam Bảo, Taman Wawasan, Puchong, 20 thiếu niên và 3 thiếu nữ đã tới nơi hôm sáng Chủ Nhật để chuẩn bị cho tuần lễ sống trong tu viện
Căn cứ theo Sư phó Tu Viện Maha tại Bricfields, ÐÐ Dhamma Ratana, đây là chương trình được tổ chức lần đầu tiên cho lứa tuổi này.
Sư nói mục đích chương trình nhằm giúp thanh thiếu niên thấm nhuần giá trị đạo đức và dạy dỗ chúng kính trọng cha mẹ.
Trong suốt một tuần lễ, các em sẽ hoàn toàn tách biệt với thế giới bên ngoài, không truyền hình, không phim ảnh và trò chơi điện tử.
Sư Ratana nói “Khi không có trò tiêu khiển từ bên ngòai, trẻ em có thể tập chú tâm ý trọn vẹn vào giáo pháp và tận tâm thực hành đường hướng tôn giáo của đời sống”.
Sư nói “Hy vọng rằng khi các em trở về nhà chúng sẽ trau giồi tư cách, thái độ tốt hơn và lớn lên sẽ trở thành một người tốt.
Trong khi các em trai cạo tóc thì các em gái được miễn.
Sư nói thêm “Tóc được cạo sạch bởi vì chúng tôi nhận thức rằng tóc là vật bất tịnh. Là tu sĩ, cạo tóc cũng có nghĩa là làm đơn giản đời sống của chúng ta”.
Có khoảng 9 lão tăng từ Malacca và Singapore đến tham dự chương trình Thiếu Niên Xuất Gia Gieo Duyên tuần vừa qua. Sau khi thế phát, buổi lễ thọ giới được cử hành tiếp theo sau đó.
Các sinh hoạttrong ngày gồm thức dậy lúc 5:30 sáng để tác bạch xin thọ trì giới luật và lễ bái Tam Bảo, sau đó là hành thiền và quét dọn chùa chiền. Sau buổi điểm tâm là giờ thính pháp
Giảng dạy giáo pháp sẽ được tổ chức vào những ngày nhất định, trong những ngày khác, các em sẽ tham dự những buổi trình chiếu phim ảnh về cuộc đời Ðức Phật.
Trong buổi sáng, các em cũng sẽ đi bát quanh chùa để nhận thực phẩm cúng dường từ tín chúng và du khách.
Sư Ratana nói “Ðiều này làm cho các em hiểu được ý nghĩa thế nào là khiêm cung và tán thán thực phẩm cúng dường”.
Trong thời gian ở chùa, các em cũng sẽ được đưa đi viếng thăm các ngôi chùa khác trong thành phố.
Cũng sẽ có những chương trình dành cho các em phát biểu trên những đề tài các em đã học hỏi. Các em cũng sẽ tham dự các khóa thi khảo sát kiến thức mà các em đã thu thập.
Hy vọng rằng các em sẽ phát triển tâm thức và thấu đáo tốt hơn một số lãnh vực trong giới luật tu viện.
Chương trình một tuần lễ dài hoàn mãn với một chứng chỉ tặng thưởng đến các em và cúng dường thực phẩm đến chư tăng cùng các sa di.
Sư Ratana nói Trung Tâm Phật Giáo Tam Bảo đã hoạch định sẽ tổ chức chương trình xuất gia gieo duyên hằng năm.
Sư nói thêm “Rất khó cho người địa phương trở thành tu sĩ bởi vì họ không thể từ bỏ vật chất sở hữu.
Vì thế, chúng tôi hy vọng rằng giới trẻ, những người đã có kinh nghiệm trong chương trình sẽ thấy được đường đi trong nếp sống tu sĩ dưới một góc cạnh khác và đường đi của sự phục vụ cho cộng đồng Phật Giáo.

The young monks coming out in their saffron robes to pay their respects to the monks.
A GROUP of children aged between eight and 14 years had their first taste of monastery life recently when they participated in the Buddhist Novitiate programme organised by Ti-Ratana Buddhist Society.
The ceremony, held at Ti-Ratana Buddhist Centre in Taman Wawasan, Puchong, saw 20 boys and three girls arriving one early Sunday morning to prepare themselves for their week-long stay in the monastery.
According to deputy chief monk of Buddhist Maha Vihara in Brickfields, Rev Dhamma Ratana, the programme is being held for the first time for children of that age group.
He said the objective was to help instil moral values in children and teach them about respect for parents.
“Throughout the one week, the children will be completely ‘detached' from the outside world. No television, movies and computer games.
“When there are no outside distractions, children can fully focus their minds on Buddhism teachings and practise wholeheartedly the religious way of life.
“Hopefully, when they return home, they will cultivate better manners and behaviour, and grow up to become good adults,” added Rev Ratana.
While the boys had their hair shaved, the girls were spared.

“Shaving of hair is done because we regard keeping of hair as dirty. As monks, this is to also simplify our lives,” he said.
About nine senior monks from Malacca and Singapore attended last week’s novitiate programme.
After the hair was shaved, the ordination service followed.
This is where children pay respect to the monks before going up to their parents to receive the robes they will wear for the rest of the week.
A typical day’s activity, said Rev Ratana, would be waking up at 5.30am to attend renewal of precepts and chanting, followed by meditation and cleaning of the temple.
After breakfast is the dhamma session.
“Dhamma talks are held on certain days. On other days, the children will attend presentations that chronicle Buddha’s life.”
In the mornings, the children will also go around the temple collecting alms like rice from well-wishers and visitors.
This, said Rev Ratana, was to make children understand the meaning of humbleness and to appreciate the food.
“During their stay, the children will also be taken to visit Buddhist temples in town.
“There are sessions where we let them speak on subjects that they have learned. They will also be tested and judged on their knowledge acquired so far.
The three girls who are also part of the programme paying their respects to the monks.
“Hopefully, they develop spiritually and understand better some aspects of monastic discipline,” he added.
The week-long programme culminated with a certificate presentation to the children and offering of vegetarian food (also known as dana offering) to the monks and novices.
Rev Ratana said Ti-Ratana Buddhist Centre was planning to hold the novitiate programme yearly.
“It is difficult to recruit locals to become monks because they are not able to renounce material possessions.
“Therefore, we hope that young children who have experienced the programme may see the path of monkhood in a different light and be of service to the Buddhist community.”
