Phật tử nước Nga làm lễ đón ngày đầu năm con gà (người Tây phương họ gọi năm ất Dậu là Blue Wơoden Rơoster tức là con gà trống màu xanh bằng gỗ. Ngày lễ tượng chưng cho sự gạn lọc tâm cho thanh tịnh , thời gian hoàn hảo cho sự gột rữa những tội lỗi, những điều không hoàn hảo những trắc trở.Hai ngày cuối trong năm các ngôi chùa Phật giáo trong khắp nước Nga đã hướng dẫn những buổi lễ. Trong buổi lễ cuối người Phật tử đối pháo ngay khi mặt trời lặn và đốt một miếng bột nhào sẵn hoặc một miếng vải nhỏ, để loại trừ tất cả những điều không may, những bất hạnh
Ngày đầu năm thi` tưởng nhớ với niềm hân hoan vui mừng. Sự cầu nguyện cho sức khỏe và phát tài trong ngày đầu năm thường được đi kèm với những lễ hội. Những người đầu bếp địa phương thường quyến rủ dân chúng với những kiệt tác của bánh culinary.

Theo Phật giáo thi` niên đại khởi đầu ngay lúc Ðức Phật nhập Niết Bàn. Hầu như không thể xác định chính xác ngày của sự việc. Ðã có nhiều truyền thuyết khác nhau. Ðược biết rằng sự hiện hữu của Ðức Phật là niên khoản giữa 623 và 380 BC trước Tây lịch. Và cũng được biết rằng Ðức Phật nhập Niết Bàn khi Ngài 80 tuổi.

Năm nay là năm con gà trống bằng gỗ màu xanh. Trong ngày đầu năm mới, vị trưởng ban nghi thức lễ hội Nga Hambo-Lama Damba Ayuheev đã chúc mừng mọi người và cầu chúc cho mọi người được phát tài trong năm mới.

Vị tu sĩ tại Moscow cho biết rằng bắt đầu cho một ngày của năm mới lúc 6:00 am. Buổi tối của ngày cuối năm các Phật tử đã đến các chùa để tham dự những lễ cầu nguyện cho sức khỏe, cho sự làm ăn trong năm được phát tài và cũng để cầu nguyện cho hoà bi`nh của thế giới.

Phong tục của những người Phật tử người Nga họ đi thăm viếng nhau vào ngày đầu năm. Theo vị Lama thi` người ta có thể được dùng những thức ăn như thịt trìu, thịt bo` và các loại rau , trái cây. Người Phật tử thi` không dùng các loại thịt.

Những quà tặng, những vật kỷ niệm, và những hi`nh tượng Ðức Phật thi` rất thông dụng trong ngày đầu năm để trao tặng nhau. Có khoảng gần 1 triệu người Phật tử tại nước Nga.

Sagaalgan là một lễ hội lớn của Buryat và người dân nói ngôn ngữ Mongol. Sagaalgan co`n được gọi là ngày White Month - tháng màu trắng, thi` được ăn mừng từ thế kỷ thứ 13 do sự ra lệnh của người cháu Chinghis Khan's là Khubilai Khan và biểu tượng cho bắt đầu vào mùa xuân. "White month" bắt đầu một đời sống mới.

Russian Buddhists worship Blue Wooden Rooster

Today Russian Buddhists celebrate the official beginning of the New Year of Blue Wooden Rooster. The holiday symbolizes cleansing of one's souls, the perfect time to rid oneself of sins, imperfections and troubles.
The last couple of days Buddhist temples throughout Russia have been conducting divine worshipping ceremonies along with the so-called "dugjuuba" ceremony. During the latter ceremony Buddhists would light ritual fires rights after the sunset and burn small pieces of dough or fabric in them, thus ridding themselves of all the misfortunes.
The actual New Year is commemorated with grand festivities. Well-being and prosperity prayers are usually accompanied by theatrical ceremonies; local chefs mesmerize the public with their culinary masterpieces.
In Buddhism, chronology starts from the moment of Buddha's physical death, his departure to Nirvana. It is virtually impossible to determine the exact date of the event; various traditions present various accounts. It is known however that Buddha"s earthly existence is dated between 623 and 380 BC and it is also known that he was 80 years old at the time Buddha reached Nirvana.
This year is the year of Blue Wooden Rooster. The other day, head of Russia's traditional sanghi Hambo-Lama Damba Ayusheev congratulated everyone with the holiday and wished them to "keep the seeds of prosperity" in the year to come.
"It is considered that the New Year begins at 6:00 am," stated a spokesman of Russia's Buddhist sangha in Moscow to a RIA "Novosti" correspondent. "On New Year"s Eve Buddhists gather in temples and pray for the well-being, prosperity and peace in the world. In addition, faithful people also order public prayers for the upcoming year," noted Sanzhei-Lama. It is customary for Buddhists to visit each other in the morning. According to the lama, people can enjoy not only fruits and vegetables on this day but also "white" (dairy) foods and meat (lamb and beef). Buddhist regions do not consume poultry, states the lama.
As far as the presents are concerned, souvenirs and images of Buddha are among the most popular ones.
There are nearly one million Buddhists in Russia. They primarily reside in Kalmykia, Buryatia, Tuva, Altai region, and Chitinsky to name a few.
"Sagaalgan" is one of the most favorite holidays of Buryats and other Mongol-speaking nations. Sagaalgan, or the holiday of the White Month, is celebrated since XIII century by the order of Chinghis Khan's grandson Khubilai Khan and symbolizes the beginning of spring. "White month" refers to the beginning of a new life.
