Tu Viện Phật Giáo Scotland khai trương Bệnh xá và Trung tâm Huấn Nghệ ở Tích Lan.

Glasgow, Scotland -- Scotland’s Buddhist Vihara, Tu Viện Phật Giáo Scotland, tu viện Phật Giáo Tích Lan (viết tắt SBV) duy nhất tại Scotland, chính thức khai trương Bệnh xá Metta và trung tâm huấn nghệ vào ngày 19 tháng 08, 2006 tại Pamburana, Matara, Tích Lan.
Bệnh Xá Metta và Trung Tâm Huấn Nghệ được thành lập bởi Tu Viện Phật Giáo Scotland và được yểm trợ tài chánh bởi Hội Lloy TSB Scotland, một trong những cơ quan tài chánh lớn nhất xã hội Anh Quốc. Như lời của Sư Cả Tu Viện nói rằng “ Chúng tôi gọi bệnh xá và trung tâm huấn nghệ này là “Metta Scotland” bởi vì đó là những gì đã khiến cho nó khả thi và đến từ đâu. Chân thành cảm tạ tấm lòng bao la của mọi người và chính phủ cũng như cơ quan tài chính Scotland, chúng ta đã có thể cống hiến trực tiếp đến quần chúng Nam Tích Lan”.
Bệnh xá và trung tâm huấn nghệ hoạt động như một phần của chương trình cứu trợ hậu Tsunami được điều hành bởi Tu Viện Phật giáo Scotland. Bệnh xá và trung tâm huấn nghệ sẽ cung cấp cơ hội cho khoảng 500 người cô quả trong chương trình tự lực cánh sinh hoặc được huấn nghệ đề sẵn sàng làm việc như là một phần của dự án phát triển đời sống.
Bổ sung vào dự án phát triển đời sống là chương trình cố vấn và chữa trị y tế của Tu Viện Phật Giáo Scotland, chương trình cũng được thực hiện từ “Bệnh xá Metta Scotland”,
Tu Viện Phật Giáo Scotland đang điều hành 5 dự án có liên quan với nhau ở phiía Nam Tích Lan. Cơ quan Scottish Executive đã trực tiếp yểm trợ tài chánh cho những dự án này lên đến con số 30 tri ệu Rupees trong 2 năm vừa qua. Tống giám đốc hành chính của cơ quan tài chính Lloyd’ TBS Foundation Scotland, Ông Andrew sẽ là quan khách danh dự trong buổi lễ khai mạc. Viện chủ Tu Viện, Ngài Rewatha Thero và một vài nhân vật liên hệ đến dự án sẽ thay mặt Tu Viện tham dự buổi lễ.
‘Metta Scotland Clinic And Training Centre’, Matara officially opens

Glasgow, Scotland -- Scotland’s Buddhist Vihara, (SBV) the only Sri Lankan Buddhist temple in Scotland, is officially opening its “Metta Scotland Clinic and Training Centre” on Saturday 19th August at 3 pm in Pamburana, Matara.
“Metta Scotland Clinic and Training Centre” was established by Scotland’s Buddhist Vihara and funded by the Lloyd’s TSB Foundation for Scotland, one of the largest financial institutions in British society. As Venerable K Sri Rewatha Thero, head monk of SBV said, “We called this clinic and training centre ‘Metta Scotland’ because that is what made it possible and that is where it came from. Thanks to the generosity of people and Government and large financial institutions of Scotland we have been able to offer direct assistance to the people in Southern Sri Lanka.”
The Clinic and training centre operate as part of the post-Tsunami relief projects run by Scotland’s Buddhist Vihara. The Clinic and Training Centre will provide opportunities for 500 widows and widowers to move into self-employment or to receive training for employment as part of SBV’s livelihood development project.
Complementing the livelihood development project is SBV’s counselling and medical treatment programme which will also operate out of ‘Metta Scotland Clinic’. The Clinic therefore serves a variety of purposes all aiming to keep families together and support the infrastructure in Matara.
Scotland’s Buddhist Vihara is running five interrelated projects in the Southern districts of Sri Lanka. The Scottish Executive directly funds these projects to the tune of 30 million rupees over two years. The projects represent a substantial investment in Southern Sri Lanka.
The Chief Executive of Lloyd’s TSB Foundation for Scotland, Mr Andrew Muirhead will be the guest of honour and perform the opening ceremony. Venerable Rewatha Thero (head of SBV), Mr. Barry McGivern (SBV Charity Advisor) and Ms Nelum Arachchige (Project Coordinator) will be participating in the ceremony on behalf of Scotland’s Buddhist Vihara.
