Buddhist Group raises RM 1mil for survivors

THE Malaysia Buddhist Association (MBA) has raised RM1.1mil for tsunami victims.
MBA president Ven Jit Heng said Sri Lanka and Aceh had already received RM200,000 each.
He said the balance would be equally dispersed to Sri Lanka, Aceh, and also Malaysia and India.
“I would like to thank all MBA members throughout the country,'' he said after receiving the last cheque from the Johor MBA branch recently.
Branch president Ven Chang Liang handed over the cheque for RM141,051 to Jit Heng.
Also present were MBA vice-president Datuk Steven Ooi and assistant secretary Ven Chuan Chao as well as its welfare bureau chief Ven Te Nian.
