Kandy, Tích Lan- Để cưú nguy Bồ Đề Malwa và Belfry, ngôi chùa Ẩn Lâm tại đỉnh núi Bahirawakanda, Kandy, một số đông tín chúng và các chức sắc tôn giáo đã khiếu nại đến Tân Thống Ðốc Tikiri Kobbekadwa cho là các viên chức tắc trách đang trên đà phá hủy sự tĩnh mịch của trung tâm thiền học Phật Giáo với lý do để phát triển hệ thống hồ chứa nước.
Căn cứ theo thỉnh nguyện thư được hổ trợ bởi nhiều chữ ký không riêng các Phât tử Phật Giáo mà còn các phái giáo khác đã lên án sự quyết định chuyên chế bởi các viên chức Cục Thủy Năng Kiều Lộ về việc phá hủy Bồ Đề Maluwa và Tháp Chuông của tu viện Sri Abhinawarama Viharaya, bất chấp thực trạng là nó đã lấy 35 sào từ cơ ngơi ngôi chùa.
Đó là một điều khả nghi vì tại sao các viên chức Cục Thủy Năng Kiều Lộ hành động một cách cứng nhắc và đã trông thấy hậu quả tức thì mà vẫn cứng nhắc khiến cho rừng núi bị phá hủy nặng nề làm xúc phạm đến khung cảnh thiêng liêng một cách vô lý.
Qua sự xuất hiện khiêm tốn trong suốt ba phần tư thế kỷ, tu viện này đã lặng lẽ và trang nghiêm phục vụ tâm linh cũng như điều trị y dược dân tộc cho quần chúng.
Nhà sư ẩn danh thông thái 70 tuổi, Ven Kohombepola Pannananda Weda Hamuduruwo tiếp tục phục vụ quần chúng qua việc chữa trị miễn phí.
Ðề tài được bàn tán khá sôi nổi, trên nỗi ưu phiền này của Ven Maha Nayaka Thera thuộc Ramanna Nikaya, Ủy Viên Bộ Phật Giáo đã ….làm ngơ.
Governor urged to stop desecration of hermitage
In a bid to save the Bodhi Maluwa and the Bellfry of the Hermitage Temple at the Hilltop of Bahirawakanda, Kandy, a large number of dismayed devotees and dignitaries have complained to the New Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa alleging that certain unscrupulous officials are on the verge of destroying the serenity of the Buddhist Meditation Centre on the pretext of expanding the water storage tank.
According to the memorandum supported by public signatures not only Buddhists but also those of other religious denominations have expressly condemned the arbitrary decisions taken by the Water Supply and Drainage Board officials to destroy the Bodhi Maluwa and the Bell Tower of the Sri Abhinawarama Viharaya, despite the fact that it had already taken 35 perches from the temple premises.
It is questionable as to why the Water Board officials act so rigidly and oversee the immediate bearland but adamant to cause to heavy forestry destruction and desecration to the sacred premises unreasonably.
Though humble in its appearance during the past three-quarter of a century this monastery has silently and solemnly rendered yeomen service to the public who seek emotional security as well as native medical care.
The 70-year-old scholarly and solitary monk known as Ven. Kohombepola Pannananda Weda Hamuduruwo continues to serve the public by providing free medical treatment.
The objections raised so far, over this harassment by the Ven. Maha Nayaka Thera of the Ramanna Nikaya, the Commissioner of Buddhasasana Affairs and the Diyawadana Nilame has fallen on deaf ears.
