Amravati (Andhra Pradesh) : Chư Tăng tham dự lễ hội quán đảnh thế giới tại Amravati gần thị trấn Guntur, Andhra Pradesh bị khổ sở vì những chứng bệnh do chói nước gây nên.
Một bác sĩ người Tây Tạng tham gia lễ hội cho biết “Hằng trăm tu sĩ đã được chữa trị tại một bệnh viện dã chiến trong vùng. Chúng tôi gặp những chứng bệnh chói nước như tiêu chảy, kiết lỵ, cũng có một vài trường hợp dịch tả, sau đó là đường hô hấp, sốt rét, bị côn trùng đốt, chích v.v...”
Khoảng 100,000 người gồm tu sĩ, lãnh đạo tôn giáo và du khách trên khắp thế giới đã đến dựng trại để tham dự lễ hội kéo dài 10 ngày tại Amaravati.
Lễ hội Kalachakra do Ðức Ðạt Lai Lạt Ma chủ trì, nghi lễ được xem như là chúc lành cho tất cả những người tham dự.
Mỗi năm, một địa điểm mới sẽ được chọn lựa làm nơi hành lễ và sự kiện năm nay, Amaravati, một địa phương gần lưu vực sông Krishna ở Andhra Pradesh Guntur đã được chọn. Amaravati được chọn cho lần lễ hội quán đảnh thứ 30 bởi vì ảnh hưởng của Phật Giáo tại đây và bởi vì nghe nói rằng Ðức Phật đã giảng dạy về nghi thức quán đảnh Kalachakra lần đầu tiên tại đây.

Buddhist monks at Andhra conclave suffering from water-borne diseases

By Narendra, Amravati (Andhra Pradesh) : Buddhist monks attending a global conclave in Amravati near Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur town are suffering from water-borne diseases.
Hundreds of them are reportedly being treated at a makeshift hospital in the area.
“Water-borne diseases like diarrhoea, dysentery. Then we have one or two cases of cholera also. Then we have upper respiratory track infection, we have few cases of malaria also. Then insects bites etc,” said Sering, a Tibetan doctor attending to the monks.
Around 100,000 monks, spiritual leaders and tourists from across the world are camping for the 10-day long ceremony in Amaravati, which means “Deathless Realm” in the Buddhist scriptural language.
The Kalchakra initiation is being conferred by Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama to promote peace and tolerance. The initiation is considered a blessing for all participants.
The Kalchakra (wheel of time) ceremony is a profound system of teachings and practice of the Buddhist faith. The ritual was first performed by Lord Buddha over 2,500 years ago at the request of King Shambhala, who ruled a mythical or historical kingdom located beyond the Himalayas.
The ceremony has three aspects, the Outer Kalchakra pertaining to the external environment, the Inner Kalchakra pertaining to sentient beings living in the universe and the cycles of time, life and death.
And the Alternative Kalchakra, which is the third stage, consists of the practice of purification undertaken by an individual. Its importance also lies in the fact that the faithful believe that the initiation helps in promoting world peace, harmony and brotherhood.
Every year a new place is chosen for the event and this year, Amravati, which is located near the river Krishna in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district has been picked. Amravati has been chosen due to its Buddhist influence and because Buddha is said to have taught the Kalchakra here for the first time.
