PATNA, Bihar (India)-Theo những nguồn tin đã được loan trước đây, Ðại Bồ Ðề Tự tại Bồ Ðề Ðạo Tràng ở Bihar, Ấn Ðộ, vốn đã được liệt kê vào danh sách di sản thế giới hồi năm 2002, gần đây đã bị cơ quan UNESCO cảnh cáo là vi phạm nguyên tắc bảo tồn và có thể sẽ bị tước bỏ danh vị này, hôm nay, theo tin mới nhất trên tờ báo The Times of India, số ra ngày 25 tháng tư năm 2005, Cơ quan UNESCO đã đính chánh rằng không có dự tính tước bỏ danh vị di sản thế giới của Ðại Bồ Ðề Tự như các hãng truyền thông đã loan. Cũng dựa trên vấn đề này, vào ngày thứ bảy 23 tháng 04 năm 2005 vừa qua, dân chúng chung quanh khu vực Bồ Ðề Ðạo Tràng đã kêu gọi và thực hiện một cuộc biểu tình nhằm phản đối dự tính tước bỏ danh vị Di Sản Thế Giới của Ðại Bồ Ðề Tự.
Cho đến hôm nay thì UNESCO đã chính thức xác nhận rằng vấn đề này sẽ không xảy ra. Hai thành viên của UNESCO đã đến Bồ Ðề Ðạo Tràng để quan sát hiện trạng của khu vực chung quanh Ðại Bồ Ðề Tự, nơi được xem là cái nôi khai sinh Phật Giáo, họ cũng nói thêm rằng đã sẵn sàng để giúp đỡ chính phủ Ấn Ðộ bảo vệ kiến trúc lịch sử này.

Chúng tôi quyết định ngôi chùa phải được bảo vệ tránh ô nhiễm, tránh áp lực bởi mật độ dân cư và thiên tai, chúng tôi phải làm việc trong một khuôn khổ thời gian nhất định để kịp thời bảo toàn công trình này”.

PATNA, Bihar (India) ── UNESCO has clarified that it has no plans to de-list the Bodh Gaya temple in Bihar, near the site where Buddha is said to have attained enlightenment some 2,500 years ago, from its World Heritage List.
A two-member Unesco team that visited Bodh Gaya, the temple town known as Buddhism's birthplace about 110 km from here, to assess the physical condition of the 1,500-year-old temple, also said it was ready to help the Indian government protect the historic complex.
"There is no question of de-listing the temple from the World Heritage status list," said Junko Okahasi, one of the members in the team.
She said no such thing had ever happened in the UN organisation's history. "UNESCO is more keen to protect and conserve it because it is a world heritage site".
"We have met and held discussions with government officials, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the temple management committee and others on how to protect and conserve the temple," said Okahasi.
It had been decided to protect it from pollution, population pressures and natural disasters. "We have to work within a time frame to protect and conserve it," the UNESCO official said.
Over the last two years, UNESCO has issued several warnings that the heritage status would be withdrawn if maintenance guidelines continued to be flouted.
The temple, which was declared a world heritage site in June 2002, became the 23rd historical structure in India to be given the special status.
UNESCO was reportedly unhappy after a three-member expert committee had complained after a visit earlier this month that illegal concrete structures were mushrooming in and around the temple.
The central and Bihar governments had assured UNESCO that its guidelines including the enforcement of a strict ban on all construction in a one-km radius around the temple - would be strictly followed.
The Bihar government had drawn up grand plans to develop the site into a major tourist destination after it was included in the heritage list.
A building boom followed, even though the government had agreed not to allow any construction in the buffer area.

People of Bodh Gaya, a temple town in Bihar known as Buddhism's birthplace, Saturday called a strike against Unesco's plans to protect and conserve the world heritage site.
The Unesco team is in Bodh Gaya, about 110 km from here, to assess the physical condition of the 1,500-year-old temple, which was declared a world heritage site in June 2002.
The Unesco had asked government agencies last year to stop violating guidelines and threatened to de-list the temple from the world heritage list.
The temple wore a deserted look as traders and hoteliers observed two-day stir.
The marketplace shutdown was reportedly total to protest a master plan being prepared as per the maintenance guidelines of Unesco.
The Bodh Gaya Nagrik Manch, a body of local people, gave the strike call, sources told IANS from Bodh Gaya over telephone.
Unesco's maintenance guidelines would uproot hundreds of local residents, they added.
The temple, the 23rd historical structure in India to be given the special heritage status, stands at the site near where the Buddha attained enlightenment some 2,500 years ago.
Unesco officials are reportedly unhappy after a three-member expert committee last week complained that illegal concrete structures were mushrooming in and around the temple.
The Unesco had been warning over the last two years that it would revoke the heritage status for the temple if its maintenance guidelines continued to be flouted.
The central and Bihar governments had assured the Unesco that its guidelines - including the enforcement of a strict ban on all construction in a one-kilometer radius around the temple - would be strictly followed.
