Ấn Ðộ phục hồi di sản Văn Hóa Phật Giáo

Kolkata, Ngày 18 tháng 07 năm 2005: Như một phần của bộ văn hóa trong chiều hướng cảnh báo con người và đồng thời để bảo tồn truyền thống văn hóa ở Ấn Ðộ, Hội Nghị Chuyên Ðề Quốc Gia về Di Sản Văn Học Phật Giáo tại Ấn Ðộ: “Kinh Văn và Ngữ Cảnh ” đã được loan báo trong ngày hôm nay tại viện bảo tàng Hiệp Hội Châu Á.

Chương trình hội nghị hai ngày được tổ chức bởi Cơ Quan Chính Phủ Ðặc Trách Kinh Tạng Chính Phủ Ấn Ðộ hợp tác với Trung Tâm Chuyên Khoa Kinh Tạng Ðại Học Calcutta. “Mục đích của hội nghị này là để truyền trao văn hóa quốc gia từ thế hệ này sang thế hệ khác.

Kinh điển văn học Phật giáo là thành phần lớn của nền văn hóa này, và cuộc thảo luận trên vấn đề của chủ đề cùng với tình trạng của nó sẽ là một hành trình dài đem con người đến gần với di sản của họ hơn. “Chúng ta phải lập đi lập lại, tôn vinh và tái tôn vinh kho tàng tri thức mà tổ tiên chúng ta đã giành được qua sự kiên gan trì chí mãnh liệt”.

Dr. Ratna thuộc trung tâm chuyên khoa kinh tạng Ðại Học Calcutta nói như trên. Hội nghị được yểm trợ tài chánh bởi bộ văn hóa , và đây là đợt đầu tiên trong một loạt các buổi diễn thuyết và hội nghị đã hoạch định sẽ tổ chức đó đây trên toàn quốc.

Hai mươi học giả xuất sắc thuộc lãnh vực văn hóa văn học Phật Giáo, từ ngoại quốc và tại Ấn Ðộ sẽ diễn thuyết trong suốt hai ngày hội nghị. Một vài chủ đề trong hội nghị sẽ được khai triển như “Ảnh hưởng văn hóa của di sản Phật giáo tại Ấn Ðộ”, “Văn học tiêu chuẩn Phật Giáo và các phụ chú” và “ Văn học Phật giáo qua kinh điển ít được biết đến”.

Những học giả tham dự hội nghị hy vọng sẽ làm được việc ngữ cảnh hóa văn học Phật Giáo Anurag Chowdhury của Trung Tâm Thiền Minh Sát Igatpuri nói “Kinh điển văn học Phật giáo mở ra một cánh cửa đi vào một nền văn hóa sống động. Nó thấm đẫm triết lý bất diệt qua nhiều thời đại”.

City launchpad for Buddhist heritage revival

Kolkata, July 18: As part of the ministry of culture’s drive to create awareness among people and simultaneously preserve the cultural heritage of India, the ‘National Seminar on Buddhist Literary Heritage in India: Text and Context’ kicked off today at the Asiatic Society museum.

The two-day programme is organised by the National Mission for Manuscripts, Government of India, and is coordinated by the Calcutta University Manuscript Resource Centre (CUMRC). “The aim of this seminar is to transmit the nation’s culture from one generation to another. Buddhist literary texts are a major part of this culture, and a discussion on their subject matter and condition will go a long way in bringing people closer to their heritage. We have to repeatedly evaluate and re-evaluate the intellectual treasures acquired by our predecessors through great perseverance,” said Dr Ratna Basu, coordinator, CUMRC.

The seminar is funded by the ministry of culture, and is the first of a series of lectures and seminars planned by it throughout the country. “We are extremely proud of the fact that Kolkata was chosen as the place from which to kick-start this national programme,” said Basu.

Twenty eminent scholars of Buddhist literature and culture, from India and abroad, will deliver lectures during the two days of the seminar. Some of the topics dealt with will be ‘The cultural impact of Buddhist heritage in India’, ‘Buddhist canonical literature and its branches’ and ‘Buddhist literature through lesser known texts’.

Those involved in the seminar hope to contextualise Buddhist literature. “The Buddhist literary texts open up a window into a living culture. They are imbued with a perennial philosophy that is relevant throughout the ages,” said Anurag Chowdhury of the Vipasana Research Centre, Igatpuri.
